Meet Kristie

I’m an active relaxer, coffee snob, traveller, book lover, and mama to a cheeky two year old - who doesn’t allow me much time for the aforementioned hobbies!

In 2012 I went on a weight loss journey, where I fell in love with exercise and all that comes with it. I tried everything from CrossFit to Pilates, strength training to swimming laps - you name it, I’ve probably given it a go!

After the birth of my daughter, things changed. I wasn’t able to use my body in the way I was used to; running, jumping, boxing, was all off the table. I was desperate to get back into the exercise that I loved and to claim back some sense of ‘self’, but struggled to find a trainer who understood the changes I had gone through.

I needed someone who could guide me safely back to exercise, but quickly identified that there isn’t nearly enough hands-on support and expertise out there for the mamas and mamas-to-be! So, I was inspired to take my experience and turn it into a platform to support others. 

I am a Level 5 Qualified Personal Trainer (New Zealand Institute of Health and Fitness) with a special interest in pregnancy and postpartum exercise. I am incredibly passionate about my responsibility to guide others towards their fitness goals (whatever they may be) and look forward to the opportunity to support you with yours.

Small Steps Group Fitness

Exercise for Pregnancy and Beyond

If you are currently pregnant or newly postpartum, and looking to exercise (or return to exercise) in a small, safe, group environment, Small Steps Group Fitness may be for you.

Our focus is on helping you to take small but progressive steps towards regaining strength and confidence from the inside out. With an emphasis on deep abdominal work, pelvic floor strength, resistance training and steady state cardio within your limits, our class is suitable for all stages of pregnancy and postpartum.

Adjustments can be provided for pregnancy-specific contraindications such as: hypertonic or weak pelvic floor, pelvic pain, abdominal separation, wrist and knee pain.

    • Based out of Meadowbank Community Centre, Auckland

    • Free onsite parking

    • Tuesday and Friday, 11-11.45am

    • Classes are capped at 8 people, allowing for a personal group training experience 

    • Babies and young children are welcome in capsules/carriers etc, however childcare is not provided. Mamas are welcome to stop and feed/attend to your children as needed.

    • Our community space has a lovely indoor/outdoor flow, with ample space to get outside and run around, but please note the garden is not fully fenced and little runners must be supervised (I will do my best to help out but my attention must be with the mamas first!)

    • A unique opportunity to connect with other mums who are at  similar stage as you

  • Term One runs from 28th January - 4th April 2025

    • $220 per term for one session per week (10 classes)

    • $400 per term for two sessions per week (20 classes)

    • Choose to attend one or two sessions per week

    Payment options:

    • Upfront payment in full

    • Payment plan (two installments - first payment at time of booking and the second four weeks later: $230 or $410

I work with people of all ages and stages for one on one training. I know how hard it can be to make time for YOU, but I also know the difference it can make when you prioritise yourself. I offer an honest, comfortable and safe environment to help you slowly but surely get back to feeling like your best self again.
